Unconfirmed: Apple to Reduce Production of Non-Pro iPhone 16 Models by Approximately 10 Million Units

Ming-Chi Kuo, an esteemed analyst known for his insights into Apple products, recently revealed a study within the industry indicating that Apple has reduced the production of the iPhone 16 by approximately 10 million units. This reduction is slated for the devices to be sold in the fourth quarter of 2024 through the first half of 2025, specifically impacting non-Pro models.

He provided production figures, stating that in the latter half of 2024, production decreased from 88 million units to 84 million units. Similarly, in the first half of 2025, production dropped from 89 million units to 84 million units.

Kuo mentioned that this production cut is not expected to significantly impact Apple’s revenue, as sales of the Pro Max model have seen an increase to offset it. Apple placed orders for this specific model to ramp up between September and October. These numbers have led Kuo to speculate that Apple’s sales momentum may not be as strong as anticipated, though he believes that in the long run, Apple’s AI processing capabilities will keep them ahead of competitors.

Lastly, Kuo shared production data for the iPhone SE4, with manufacturing set to begin in December with around 8.6 million units produced until the first quarter of 2025.

TLDR: Ming-Chi Kuo’s analysis reveals a decrease in iPhone 16 production by Apple, impacting non-Pro models, with shifts in production figures and expectations for AI capabilities to maintain Apple’s competitive edge. Additionally, production for the iPhone SE4 is set to start in December.
