Unconfirmed: Meta Contemplates Relocating Headquarters from Delaware to Texas instead

According to sources cited by The Wall Street Journal, Meta is reportedly considering relocating its headquarters from Delaware to Texas without physically moving the office building itself.

If this change indeed takes place, Meta would be following a similar path to Elon Musk’s group of companies. Both Tesla and SpaceX previously moved from Delaware to Texas due to issues regarding executive compensation totaling $56 billion for Musk, along with other corporate matters.

Many Fortune 500 companies, large corporations in the United States, predominantly register their offices in Delaware, largely due to the state’s specialized business courts. However, recent trends show that Delaware’s courts have not always been favorable to company founders and major shareholders. Consequently, several companies have contemplated relocating in recent years, with the latest being Dropbox moving from Delaware to Nevada.

While the reasons for relocating from Delaware might be related to shareholder structure, Meta’s case could also involve political considerations. Meta recently announced the relocation of its content moderation and security division from California to Texas.
