OpenAI has informed investors in the company about their future revenue and expenditure projections. It is estimated that by 2025, the company’s revenue will increase by more than 3 times from $3.7 billion to $12.5 billion, mostly attributed to agreements with SoftBank.
The company projects that expenses will also rise accordingly. In 2024, the company had expenses of around $5 billion, with expectations of a significant increase by 2027 to $20 billion. In 2030, it is predicted that server-side processing costs for running AI models for inference will surpass training costs for the first time.
OpenAI also anticipates that by 2030, approximately 75% of data processing will come from Stargate, a large-scale AI data center project that OpenAI is jointly investing in with SoftBank. Currently, a majority of OpenAI’s processing is done at Microsoft data centers, but within the next 5 years, they foresee continuous growth in expenses for Microsoft data center processing.
