Google has introduced its Gemini Code Assist service, formerly known as Duet AI for Developer, but with a revamped AI named Gemini that can process data in a myriad of tokens, enabling code suggestions to read not just file by file, but project-wide, analyzing hundreds of thousands of lines and providing instant recommendations.
In this announcement, they also revealed a partnership with the cybersecurity software company Synk, currently focused on showcasing Synk’s usage in chat. However, within this year, they plan to integrate code scanning capabilities into the Code Assist service itself, allowing for instant vulnerability detection within the code.
Gemini Code Assist is now available for free, but will start charging after June 11, at a price of $19 per month per user. It can be used on VSCode and Jetbrain.
