Unraveling the Enigma: Insights from the Mastermind behind the Super Smash Bros. Series on the Magnitude of the Future Installment vis-à-vis the Epic Ultimate Edition

It has been almost 5 years since Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was released on the Nintendo Switch, and some fans have started to inquire about the next installment. Recently, Masahiro Sakurai, the director of the Super Smash Bros. series, admitted that he is not sure how the development team will be able to surpass or exceed the greatness of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Masahiro Sakurai stated that the Smash Bros. series has grown to such an extent that it is difficult to imagine how it could become even bigger. Even though the development team has achieved the seemingly impossible in creating games, it does not mean that there won’t be future installments. Rather, it is just a challenging task to push this series even further.

Previously, Sakurai mentioned that he couldn’t picture what it would be like if the Super Smash Bros. series continued without his involvement, considering that he has been working on the development of the game for over a year.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was released on December 7, 2018, for the Nintendo Switch. The game has sold over 30 million copies and received the Best Fighting Game award at The Game Awards 2019.

TLDR: Masahiro Sakurai, the director of Super Smash Bros., is uncertain about how the next installment in the series can surpass the success of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Despite the challenges, Sakurai has not ruled out the possibility of future installments, given the immense growth and popularity of the franchise. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has achieved significant commercial success and critical acclaim since its release in 2018.
