Unstable Ground: Max Emerges as the New Player in Social Media Account Management – A Gentle Warning for the Week Ahead

After a brief pause at the beginning of last month, the latest move by Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max streaming service will involve cracking down on password sharing outside of households starting next week.

J.B. Perrette, the head of Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming and gaming business, stated that the company will begin collecting data and analyzing who is engaging in this practice, with a more stringent filtering process to be implemented gradually by 2025. Initially, light warning messages will be sent out if users are found sharing passwords.

In addition to cracking down on freeloaders, Max also plans to introduce tiered subscription accounts for non-household users, anticipating that these measures will significantly increase membership and revenue for Max.
