Unveil the cutting-edge CPU Desktop Core Ultra 200S (Arrow Lake) sans Gen, conserving energy by 58%.

Intel unveils the Core Ultra 200S (Arrow Lake) desktop CPU, the new flagship model of the year, marking the first time the desktop CPU side changes to use the Core Ultra brand in line with the laptop side (goodbye 14th Gen Gen Core system).

The Core Ultra 200S still uses the P-Core + E-Core formula like its older siblings, but this time without Hyperthreading (1 core = 1 thread), marking the end of Hyperthreading that Intel has been using for a long time.

The new features of the Core Ultra 200S include:

– The new P-Core Lion Cove with 9% more instructions per cycle compared to Raptor Cove in the 14th Gen.
– The new E-Core Skymont with 32% more instructions per cycle compared to Gracemont.

The vertical 3D chipset packaging Foveros saves 40% of energy, with the combined energy savings of Foveros and the new CPU cores reducing chip energy usage significantly. General tasks see up to 58% reduction (compared to 14th Gen), while gaming tasks see up to 165W reduction in energy usage, with system temperatures averaging 14 degrees lower.

The Xe-LPG GPU (still the same as in Meteor Lake, not Xe2) with 4 cores and a top-mounted NPU for the first time on a desktop, delivering 13 TOPS performance. When combined with the chip, the total AI performance reaches 36 TOPS, supporting a total of 24 PCIe lanes and DDR5-6400 RAM.

The Core Ultra 200S CPU that was unveiled comes in a total of 5 sub-models, following the rumors, with K suffix CPUs supporting overclocking, and F suffix CPUs disabling the GPU.

– Core Ultra 9 285K: 8 P-Core + 16 E-core, 24 threads, Turbo Boost Max 5.6GHz, max power 250W.
– Core Ultra 7 265K/KF: 8 P-Core + 12 E-core, 20 threads, Turbo Boost Max 5.5GHz, max power 250W.
– Core Ultra 5 245K/KF: 6 P-Core + 8 E-core, 14 threads, no Turbo Boost Max support, max power 159W.

The Core Ultra 200S CPU comes with the new Intel 800 Series chipset supporting 24 PCIe 4.0 lanes. The CPUs will start selling on October 24, 2024.

Next up, Intel will have a lineup of Core Ultra 200 H & HX codes for high-powered gaming laptops in the 1st quarter of 2025.

TLDR; Intel introduces the Core Ultra 200S CPU, with new P-Core and E-Core designs, energy-saving 3D packaging, advanced GPU with NPU, and upcoming H & HX models for gaming laptops.
