CATL, the prominent Chinese battery manufacturer, has unveiled its latest sodium-ion battery brand, Naxtra. The company will commence full-scale production in December.
Having previously explored sodium-ion batteries, CATL’s Naxtra boasts an energy density of 175 watt-hours per kilogram, akin to the LFP batteries utilized in current electric vehicles. One key advantage of sodium-ion batteries lies in their lower production costs compared to lithium-ion batteries, making them particularly suitable for colder climates.
In addition, CATL has introduced a rapid battery charging system for new-generation electric vehicles, capable of charging to 80% in just 15 minutes from 0%, allowing for a range of 520 kilometers with a 5-minute charge under cold weather conditions.
