Sandfall Interactive, a French game studio established in 2020, recently unveiled their RPG game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 inspired by the beautiful art of the French Belle Époque era. The game follows Gustave, a member of the Expeditioners, on a journey to defeat the enigmatic Paintress who awakens annually to sketch numbers on a stone slab. Those whose age matches the drawn number disappear, adding to the mystery. Paintress draws the number 33, coinciding with Gustave’s age.
The game features Reactive Turn-Based Combat, blending J-RPG Turn Based with Real-time Action, allowing players to attack, evade, defend, and counter to create various combos during gameplay. Developed using Unreal Engine 5 and distributed by Kepler Interactive, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is set for release in 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, available on Game Pass from day one.
