Supermassive Games has unveiled Directive 8020, the latest installment in The Dark Pictures series, following a teaser released after the credits of The Devil In Me episode. The game takes a darker turn, delving into horror in outer space, featuring the talented actress Lashana Lynch, known for her roles in films such as 007 No Time to Die, The Woman King, and Captain Marvel, as she takes on the role of Brianna Young, the protagonist.
The game’s storyline revolves around the spaceship Cassiopeia’s journey to the distant planet Tau Ceti f, which is 12 light-years away from a dying Earth, with hopes of providing hope for humanity. However, upon reaching the planet’s surface, the crew quickly discovers they are not alone. They must confront extraterrestrial life forms capable of hunting them down.
Drawing inspiration from films like Alien and Event Horizon, the game utilizes Unreal Engine 5 for development. The gameplay remains an interactive adventure, cinematic in nature, with multiple choices and numerous endings. Scheduled for release in 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, the game will be published by Bandai Namco.
