Unveiling dtac’s Revelation: Breached by Hackers, Customer Data Leaked, Outdated Information Ripples Impact on Thousands, Unrelated to Core System.

As of today, a hacker using the alias killer011 has announced on the underground forum that they have breached the systems and accessed customer data of both True and dtac, totaling nearly 40 million entries. Blognone reached out to the public relations department of True Corporation Limited (which currently serves both the True and dtac brands) and received the following information:

There was indeed a breach, but it was a temporary breach in the company’s system that stored old customer data for past marketing campaigns, not related to the core telecommunications services of the company. The accessed data consists of “thousands” of entries, and since it is outdated, only a few hundred users are still using the services.

The accessed data is general information and does not include specific mobile tower locations as claimed by the hacker. The company immediately shut down the system upon discovery and coordinated with government agencies, as well as cybersecurity experts, for further investigation.

Upon Blognone’s verification, it can be confirmed that the hacker did breach the dtac.co.th website as claimed and was able to create a text file confirming the website breach. The sample data allegedly obtained from the hack is just a database from the dtac.co.th website and does not include customer data or internal systems as claimed.

TLDR: Hacker breaches True and dtac systems, accessed old customer data for marketing campaigns. Company confirms breach, shuts down system, and collaborates with authorities for investigation. Hacker breached dtac.co.th website, but only obtained sample data, not customer or internal systems.
