Google unveiled Firebase Studio at the Google Cloud Next event in ’25, a fusion of Project IDX – an IDE through the web browser – with Firebase services and AI tools like Gemini and Genkit (AI-driven TypeScript development tools from various companies).
The result? Firebase Studio transforms into a development tool for apps on the Firebase platform, offering over 60 basic templates. Gemini acts as an agent, assisting in creating app prototypes from UI, API schema, to AI flow. Users can input prompts, use images, diagrams, and screenshots to instruct Firebase Studio to create the desired app. Once ready, deploy it on Firebase App Hosting.
Currently in preview mode, Firebase Studio allows free usage of 3 workspaces during the preview phase.
TLDR: Firebase Studio is a cutting-edge tool for building AI apps on the Firebase platform, providing a wide array of features to streamline the development process.
