GitHub has announced that the artificial intelligence feature GitHub Copilot will provide users with more options than the current GPT-4o, allowing them to choose AI models such as Claude 3.5 Sonnet by Anthropic, Gemini 1.5 Pro by Google, and o1-preview and o1-mini by OpenAI. These options will be available for use in Copilot Chat starting now.
The choices o1-preview and o1-mini are now open for use as of today, while Claude 3.5 Sonnet will be available next week, followed by Gemini 1.5 Pro at a later time. Thomas Dohmke, CEO of GitHub, mentioned that currently no AI model can be used in all scenarios, so developers should have the option to pick the most suitable assistant for their needs.
In addition, GitHub has introduced GitHub Spark, a tool that generates prototype apps based on the input text provided. Developers can further customize these details and write code based on these prototypes. The status of Spark is in preview and requires signing up for the waiting list. The AI model options include GPT-4o and Claude 3.5 Sonnet.
