Last week, the electric car company Rivan, known for its electric pickup truck Rivian R1T and large SUV R1S, introduced 3 new car models:
The Rivian R2, a smaller (considered midsize) SUV with 5 seats, starting at $45,000 and set to be delivered in the first half of 2026.
The Rivian R3, a crossover with 5 seats priced lower than the R2 to attract a wider customer base, set to start production after the R2.
The Rivian R3X, an upgraded high-performance version of the R3.
These new car models, including the R2 and R3, are developed on Rivian’s new platform designed for midsize vehicles, utilizing new manufacturing techniques such as high-pressure die castings to reduce the number of components, simplify production, and introduce a new structural battery unit with 4695 cells, allowing for a range of 300 miles per charge.
The new car models will offer 3 motor options: Single-Motor (RWD), Dual-Motor (AWD), Tri-Motor (1 front, 2 rear).
