Before unveiling the new Galaxy Watch at tonight’s Unpacked event, Samsung has introduced the new BioActive sensor for smartwatches, designed to measure various health metrics.
The BioActive sensor is positioned on the watch bezel next to the skin, featuring new LED arrangements and a new layout of photodiode sensors to increase overall surface area and efficiency. Samsung has reduced the number of light sensors from 8 to 4, with each one now more efficient, allowing for additional LED colors like blue, yellow, purple, and ultraviolet, in addition to the previous green, red, and infrared.
The addition of LEDs and the enhanced quality of the light sensors improve the accuracy of measuring heart rate, sleep quality, blood oxygen levels, and stress levels. It also enables the processing of the Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs) Index to measure the rate of burning and aging more effectively.
TLDR: Samsung has introduced a new BioActive sensor for smartwatches, enhancing health measurement capabilities with improved LED colors and sensor efficiency.
