Apart from Arm unveiling the new CPU architecture for 2024, there are also new GPUs for 2024 being introduced simultaneously. This round introduces the Immortalis and Mali GPU lineages with a total of 3 sub-models.
The Immortalis-G925 is the largest GPU model with 14 cores and it is the first to carry the 9xx code designation, boosting performance by 37% (measured in-game FPS) compared to the last year’s top model, the Immortalis-G720 (12 cores). If the performance remains the same, it will save 30% more energy.
The Mali-G725 is a mid-range GPU designed for mid-range mobile devices with 6-9 cores, using the same API as the G925. On the other hand, the Mali-G625 is a small GPU model designed for smartwatches or lower-end mobile devices with 1-5 cores.
Of interest is that Arm is considering the GPU set for 2024 as the “5th Gen GPU architecture,” similarly to the GPUs of 2023 (G720 and G620).
