Intel has unveiled the Core Ultra (Meteor Lake) and Core 14th Gen (Raptor Lake Refresh) vPro versions for enterprise customers, with these CPUs being reiterations of previously released models but now with the added vPro feature.
The vPro group of CPUs includes management and security features derived from the consumer-side CPUs. For example, the Thread Detection Technology feature allows security software companies to further enhance security measures. Another new addition with this round of vPro CPUs is the Silicon Security Engine, which separates hardware security to validate firmware integrity.
Additionally, the Device Discovery system enables remote monitoring of the status of individual PCs within an organization, while Device Health checks for security vulnerability patches and collaborates with Eclypsium and VMWare Workspace One.
This latest release of vPro CPUs supports both laptops (Core Ultra) and desktops (Core 14th Gen), with both chips being aimed at the lower-end workstation market. They will be paired with Intel Arc GPUs, as high-end workstations cater to the Xeon CPU market.
