Apple has unveiled the premium smartphones of the year, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, which reduce the bezel size around the screen, resulting in a larger OLED Super Retina XDR display of 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches respectively.
One of the selling points of the iPhone 16 Pro is its battery capacity, touted by Apple as the highest ever in a Pro model. The specs sheet claims continuous video playback of up to 27 hours for the iPhone 16 Pro and 33 hours for the iPhone 16 Pro Max, although streaming videos reduces this to 22 and 29 hours, respectively.
The iPhone 16 Pro features a Camera Control button similar to the iPhone 16 located on the bottom right. The functionality remains the same, but a future software update will introduce a 2-level shutter system. Pressing lightly will lock the focus while using Visual Intelligence allows for instant capturing of images along with local data search.
The cameras on the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are tailored for professional creativity, starting with faster sensor readouts, increased to 2 times the speed, a 48MP ultra-wide lens enabling ProRAW and HEIF photography in wide-angle mode, and enhanced 5x optical zoom for both models, previously limited to the Pro Max.
Video capabilities include 4K 120fps recording in normal video mode and adjustable slow-motion in the Photos app with increased speed options. Additionally, external memory connections allow for 4K 120fps ProRes and Log video recording for professional videography, with added sound recording options such as In-Frame, Studio Mix, and Cinematic Mix using algorithmic sound separation.
Voice Memos on the iPhone 16 Pro has been enhanced with editing tools tailored for music recording enthusiasts, enabling the addition of sound layers to existing recordings.
The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max come in four color options: the new Desert Sand, alongside the classic colors of Black, Silver, and White. Pre-orders begin on Friday, September 13, at 7:00 PM (Thai time), with official release on September 20. Pricing details are as follows:
