Last year, we witnessed the news of MediaTek acquiring NVIDIA’s LiDAR GPU to be used in their own Dimensity Auto chipset for cars. Almost a year later, MediaTek has unveiled this chipset named Dimensity Auto Cockpit.
This chipset is responsible for managing the display screens in cars and comes in four sub-models ranging from high-end to budget-friendly: CX-1, CY-1, CM-1, CV-1. MediaTek has specified that it uses an Armv9-A CPU manufactured at 3nm, while the GPU is the new NVIDIA RTX architecture supporting features such as ray tracing and DLSS3, along with NVIDIA’s DRIVE OS, CUDA, and TensorRT.
One of the standout features of this chipset is the ability to run LLM language models offline directly in the car. Other features include HDR ISP for processing images from in-car cameras and an audio DSP for handling sound systems when interacting with voice assistants in the car. It supports operating systems like Android Auto, QNX, and Linux.
In conclusion, MediaTek’s Dimensity Auto Cockpit chipset brings cutting-edge technology to car displays and functionality, making it a promising contender in the automotive industry.
TLDR: MediaTek introduces the Dimensity Auto Cockpit chipset with advanced features for in-car display and functionality, including support for NVIDIA’s RTX GPU and the ability to run LLM language models offline.
