NVIDIA has unveiled the Spectrum-X hardware Ethernet network with high-speed capabilities, announcing annual upgrades similar to those of its GPU rounds.
Previously, NVIDIA had products in the data center Ethernet market under the Spectrum brand (the latest version being Spectrum-4). The new addition includes incorporating the Spectrum-4 switch (SN5600) with a network data processing acceleration card (dubbed the SuperNIC chip called DPU) named BlueField-3, which boosts overall performance by up to 1.6 times compared to traditional Ethernet.
Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, stated that the first model of the Spectrum-X800 is already in use by several server manufacturers such as Dell, HPE, Lenovo, Supermicro, and companies will release new Spectrum-X products annually, with next year’s model being named Spectrum-X800 Ultra and the following year’s model being named Spectrum-X1600.
