OnePlus has unveiled the smartwatch OnePlus Watch 2 at MWC 2024, marking the company’s first model to run on Google’s Wear OS operating system. The original OnePlus Watch, released in 2021, utilized its proprietary RTOS and disappeared from the market for several years.
The standout feature of the OnePlus Watch 2 is its implementation of a Dual-Engine Architecture, utilizing two processors in tandem. The high-performance Snapdragon W5 chipset alternates with the MCU BES 2700 to run the company’s self-developed RTOS, handling lightweight processing tasks such as notifications and display output to optimize energy efficiency and extend battery life up to 100 hours.
Other specifications include a 1.43″ AMOLED Always-on Display, a 2.5D sapphire crystal screen, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage, MIL-STD-810H durability, IP68 water resistance, a 500mAh battery with 7.5W VOOC Fast Charging capable of full charge in 60 minutes, Dual Frequency GPS for enhanced location accuracy, OHealth health app with data integration to Android’s Health Connect, and Wear OS 4 supporting Google apps like Maps, Assistant, Wallet, and Calendar.
The OnePlus Watch 2 will be available for purchase in the United States starting from March 4, 2024, with a starting price of $299.99.
TLDR: OnePlus debuts the OnePlus Watch 2 at MWC 2024, featuring Dual-Engine Architecture, Google’s Wear OS, extended battery life, premium specifications, and a competitive price point.
