Tesla has unveiled the Robovan, a driverless passenger van capable of carrying up to 20 people or transporting goods. Elon Musk stated that this vehicle will help solve the issue of high-density transportation and could potentially reduce travel costs by 5-10 cents per mile.
In the future, the plan is for the Robovan to be accessible through the Tesla Network, which offers driverless car services, including Cybercab and Robovan, owned by the company, as well as customer-owned Tesla vehicles that can be rented out to generate income when not in use.
Previously, Tesla hinted at the release of the Robovan, as part of their Master Plan Part 3, where the company mentioned that buses and commercial vans are projects awaiting decision.
