ASUS debuts the portable gaming beast, ROG Ally X, with upgraded specs as promised. The transformation of the ROG Ally X is not limited to just the 7″ display and AMD Z1 Extreme CPU, nearly everything has been changed and the weaknesses of the previous model have been addressed.
The battery has been upsized to a whopping 80 Wh from the previous 40 Wh.
RAM has been increased to 24GB, upgraded to faster LPDDR5X 7500 compared to the original 16GB.
Storage now boasts a massive 1TB SSD M.2 2280, easily upgradeable from the old 512GB M.2 card.
The new heat dissipation fan system is 23% smaller, with improved airflow up by 24%.
An additional top ventilation slot has been added, making it 3 slots compared to the former 2.
The rear grip has been made 4.5mm thicker for a better grip.
The position of the thumbsticks has been slightly adjusted, making it more convenient to access the D-Pad and command buttons on the thumbstick. Durable stick shafts have been used, and the D-Pad has been redesigned for better accuracy.
The proprietary XG Mobile connection port has been replaced with a second USB-C port supporting USB 4/Thunderbolt 4, allowing for external GPU connections.
The device now comes in black, setting it apart from the original white color of the first version.
The ROG Ally X will hit the market in July with a starting price of $799.
