Activision has unveiled details about the game Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, as promised. This installment continues from Black Ops Cold War, set in the 1990s after the end of the Cold War. America emerges as the sole global leader, amid the Gulf War in 1990-1991.
The storyline of Black Ops 6 is developed by Raven Software, with Frank Woods, a character from Cold War, withdrawing from combat due to injuries to work as a CIA operative. The main character in this installment is Troy Marshall, a new frontline warrior, alongside a new character, Jane Harrow, a CIA spy.
This iteration is labeled as a spy action thriller, emphasizing espionage, undercover operations within the CIA, with the protagonist forced to flee the organization. The game scenes include European casinos and Iraqi deserts.
The multiplayer mode, a focal point of the game developed by Treyarch, features 16 new maps for 6v6 gameplay and 2v2 skirmishes across 12 large and 4 small maps. Introducing Omnimovement allows players to run, slide, or leap in any direction freely, enhancing gameplay freedom. Intelligent Movement feature reduces button press for movement and is customizable.
Lastly, the traditional Call of Duty mode, Zombies, developed by Treyarch, offers cooperative play against hordes of zombies. The addition of Round-Based Zombie gameplay comes with 2 new maps, continuing the Dark Aether storyline from Cold War.
This installment is not linked to Modern Warfare II and Modern Warfare III, thus requiring a fresh start for all characters, weapons, and content. Only content from Warzone will carry over to Black Ops 6.
TLDR: Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set in the 1990s after the Cold War, featuring espionage, customizable movement mechanics, and a new Zombies mode, unconnected to Modern Warfare sequels. Available for pre-order, releasing on October 25, 2024, on multiple platforms.
