The football gaming industry dominated by EA Sports FC and Konami’s eFootball is now facing a new contender on the block. Introducing UFL, developed by Strikerz Inc., a studio based in Cyprus.
Strikerz Studio comprises developers from various Eastern European countries. The founder and CEO, Eugene Nashilov, hailing from Belarus, previously worked in multiple Russian gaming companies before establishing his own company, Strikerz, in 2016. Currently, the studio has its headquarters in Cyprus, with another office in Georgia, and received investments from the renowned footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo.
As for the game UFL, it is developed on the Unreal Engine 5 and has the rights to use player names from FIFPro in the game. Negotiations are also underway to use the names of some football clubs. The game will be available to play for free, with versions for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S already released.
The game recently conducted its first Open Beta test in June 2024, attracting over 1.3 million players. Another test is scheduled to take place in early August. While the official release date is tentatively set within 2024, the initial plan was delayed by two rounds from 2022 and 2023.
