Upgrade Alert: Google Assistant Set to Transform Into Gemini by 2025

Google Assistant will be replaced by Gemini one day, and that day is nearing. Google has announced the upgrade of Google Assistant on smartphones to Gemini within the year 2025 (month unspecified). After that, Google Assistant will no longer be operational.

Smartphones that won’t be compatible with Gemini include those running Android 9 or lower and have less than 2GB of RAM. Following the smartphone phase, Google plans to upgrade Google Assistant on other devices such as tablets, watches, headphones, and cars in the near future. Additionally, Gemini features will be added to home devices like speakers, screens, and smart TVs. More details will be announced in the coming months.

Google Assistant was first introduced in 2016, initially exclusive to Pixel devices, but later expanded to numerous other Google services. Gemini now offers nearly the same features as the original Google Assistant, though some features like podcast or music playback from external services and interpreter mode may still be lacking.

TLDR: Google Assistant will transition to Gemini by 2025, with compatibility limited to certain smartphones and plans to expand Gemini features to various other devices. Some features may still be missing compared to the original Google Assistant.
