US Tax Department Launches Groundbreaking Direct File Service for Online Tax Filing, Available for the First Time to Public in Trial Across 12 States

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) of the United States has introduced the Direct File service for taxpayers to file their annual taxes directly with the IRS, without the need to use other private tax filing services.

Many companies in the United States have been lobbying against the government from establishing a direct tax filing system for a long time. There has been a continuous battle over this issue, with private companies even providing free filing services to individuals with moderate to low incomes through the Free File program. However, on average, individuals in the United States pay around $62 annually, or approximately 2,000 baht, to file their taxes.

The Direct File program is currently only a pilot program available to residents of 12 states, with further evaluation planned for the future.

TLDR: The IRS has launched the Direct File service for taxpayers to file their taxes directly with the government, bypassing private tax filing services.
