Validating Authenticity: Google Search Experiment Displays Blue Checkmark at End of Search Results to Confirm Legitimacy

Google Search is experimenting with adding a blue checkmark at the end of a website displayed on the search results page, to assure users that the website is legitimate and not a scam. This initiative was first reported on the websites of major tech companies like Meta and Apple.

Google’s representative confirmed this experiment, stating that it aims to direct users searching for product information to trustworthy websites. Currently, this feature is being tested with a small group of users and a select number of business websites.

When hovering over the blue checkmark, Google explains that it is a recommendation symbol indicating that the business website is indeed legitimate. It is anticipated that Google will utilize this information in conjunction with the BIMI system to verify senders in Gmail, which has been in use since last year.

TLDR: Google is testing the addition of blue checkmarks to indicate trustworthy websites on search results pages, enhancing user confidence and credibility.
