Whispers of AirTag 2 Launching Mid-Year, Enhanced Chip for Improved Tracking and Disassembly

Apple released the AirTag Bluetooth tracking device back in 2021, so it’s no surprise that there might be news of a new AirTag model coming out. According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, the rumored AirTag 2 with the internal code name B589 is expected to be unveiled in the middle of next year and is currently in the production testing phase.

Reports suggest that AirTag 2 will maintain the current design but will feature improvements in the chip to enhance tracking capabilities and privacy protection. The new design will make it more difficult to dismantle the device, addressing concerns of misuse for tracking individuals against their will in various international cases.

In addition to AirTag 2, Gurman speculates that Apple may introduce other new products next year, including the new iPad Air, entry-level iPad, MacBook Air with M4 chip, Mac Pro with M4 chip, Mac Studio with M4 chip, and iPhone SE, along with the usual annual updates for iPhone and Apple Watch.

TLDR: Bloomberg reports that Apple is working on AirTag 2 with improved chip technology for better tracking and privacy protection, alongside other potential product releases like new iPads, MacBooks, and iPhones in the coming year.
