Whispers of Microsoft’s Plan to Discontinue Skype by May 2025, Urging Transition to Teams Instead

In the XDA community, someone stumbled upon a string message in the Skype for Windows preview app, stating “Starting in May, Skype will no longer be available. Continue your calls and chats in Teams.” This has sparked speculation that Microsoft may soon announce the discontinuation of Skype.

Microsoft’s stance is clear – they want users to transition to Teams, and the Skype app has seen minimal updates for quite some time now. The only lingering question is when Microsoft will make the announcement.

Microsoft acquired Skype in 2011 and has tried to integrate it into Windows 10 with limited success.
