Microsoft has announced an update for Windows in July (KB5040442) that has encountered a bug causing some devices to crash into Bitlocker Recovery mode after booting, especially those with Device Encryption enabled.
The fix requires obtaining the Bitlocker key from the Microsoft Account to unlock the device. Microsoft is currently investigating the root cause of this issue.
Impacted devices include client-side systems running Windows 11 versions 23H2, 22H2, 21H2, as well as Windows 10 versions 22H2, 21H2, and server-side systems running Windows Server 2022, 2019, 2016, 2012 R2, 2012, 2008 R2, and 2008.
