WordPress Unveils ActivityPub 1.0.0 Plugin: Embracing Connectivity within the Fediverse

WordPress has announced the release of the ActivityPub 1.0.0 plugin, which allows WordPress blogs to be tracked by other apps in the Fediverse, such as Mastodon.

Previously, WordPress had acquired the ActivityPub for WordPress plugin, along with its team of developers. This plugin has undergone several feature enhancements, including the ability to follow whole blogs instead of just authors, the addition of follow buttons to blog sections, bug fixes, security improvements, and compatibility with WordPress 6.3.

Currently, ActivityPub 1.0.0 only supports websites hosted on WordPress themselves, but support for WordPress.com is expected to be available soon.

TLDR: WordPress introduces the ActivityPub 1.0.0 plugin, enabling tracking of WordPress blogs from other Fediverse apps. This plugin has undergone significant updates and can now be used with WordPress 6.3. Limited to self-hosted WordPress sites for now, but support for WordPress.com is coming soon.
