Xiaomi SU7 Electric Vehicle: A High-End Marvel Worth the Wait, Up to 7 Months

Xiaomi has recently allowed customers in China to place orders for their first electric car, the SU7. The latest situation in the booking app indicates that for some models of the car, customers may have to wait as long as 7 months, showcasing a potentially high demand exceeding current production capacity.

The standard model of the electric car, SU7, currently has a waiting time of 18-21 weeks, while the SU7 Pro also requires 18-21 weeks, and the top-tier SU7 Max has a waiting period of 27-30 weeks.

In an effort to attract early adopters, Xiaomi is marketing the car by offering the first 5,000 units as a special Founder’s Edition, complete with bonus items like refrigerators. This campaign has been incredibly successful, with 50,000 orders placed in just 27 minutes, prompting CEO Lei Jun to hint at the possibility of releasing another batch of Founder’s Edition cars.

According to documents from regulatory agencies in China, Xiaomi’s car manufacturing plant in Beijing is currently producing 200,000 cars per year in collaboration with BAIC (Beijing Automotive Group) at a factory in the capital city.
