Yuzu Emulator Creator Sued by Nintendo After Latest Zelda Installment Illegally Downloaded One Million Times

Nintendo of America has filed a lawsuit against Tropic Haze, the creators of the Yuzu emulator for Nintendo Switch. They claim that the creators and their representatives are well aware of the copyright infringement involved in using Yuzu to play games and are complicit in widespread piracy.

According to Nintendo, the game The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was illegally downloaded over 1 million times in just half a week before its release. Furthermore, users can download and play almost every Nintendo Switch game on Yuzu without compensating Nintendo, game developers, or other game distributors.

Nintendo has a long history of fighting against copyright infringement. Last year, they instructed Valve to remove Wii and Gamecube emulators from Steam, citing the protection of game developers and engineers who put significant effort into their creations.

TLDR: Nintendo is taking legal action against the creators of the Yuzu emulator for enabling piracy and copyright infringement in Nintendo Switch games.
