Enhancing User Privacy: Instagram Unveils New Feature to Conceal Message Seen Notification in DMs—No Need to Resort to Restrict Anymore

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, recently announced through a broadcast on his Instagram that they are currently testing a new feature that users have been requesting. This feature allows users to turn off the “Seen” or Read Receipts function in DMs.

Read Receipts is a basic feature in Instagram’s DMs that lets the sender know if the recipient has seen the message. Zuckerberg directly stated that this feature is being launched to help those who don’t want to respond to a message even after reading it. This feature will be part of the Privacy settings.

The status of this feature is still in testing and will be rolled out to all users in the future. Now, there’s no need to go through the hassle of restricting accounts to avoid the “Seen” notification.
