Google has added a new feature to Google Flights that allows users to predict when the flights they are interested in booking will have the lowest prices. For example, if a user is planning to book a flight 4 months in advance, but Google Flights discovers that ticket prices are typically lower during the 1-3 months prior to the flight, the service will alert the user during their search.
This feature, coupled with the previously existing price tracking service, allows users to wait for better flight prices. Additionally, Google is also starting to test a price protection feature for flights originating from the United States. If Google Flights confirms that the user has found the lowest price and the price subsequently drops, the user will receive a refund for the price difference.
