Release of Contract Game Testers in the United States Despite Some Quinine Tendency

The recent wave of layoffs in the gaming industry has now hit Nintendo of America, with contract employees in the Product Testing department being let go in Washington state, USA. Although the official number of layoffs has not been disclosed, information from the terminated contractors indicates that around 100 individuals were affected.

A spokesperson from Nintendo of America confirmed these layoffs to Kotaku, mentioning that some contract employees are being transitioned to full-time positions. According to the group of contract employees, the reason behind the layoffs at Nintendo is due to a lack of first-party game testing work available, coupled with the delay of the Nintendo Switch 2 release to early 2025, causing a ripple effect on various game developments.
