Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite chip is set to make its debut in the PC market around mid-2024. It is speculated that Microsoft may unveil the Surface 10 Arm models at the Build 2024 event at the end of May, alongside the already released x86 models.

As new PCs are on the horizon, leaks have started to surface. The latest leak involves a Lenovo notebook with the code 83ED appearing on the Geekbench database, powered by the Snapdragon X Elite chip with the code X1E78100. This notebook features the Oryon CPU with 12 cores in an 8+4 cluster configuration, operating at a base clock of 3.42GHz, and equipped with 32GB of RAM.

In benchmark tests, this notebook scored 2,427 points in single-core performance and 14,254 points in multi-core performance. Compared to competitors in the market, it closely rivals the Intel Core i9-14900HX in single-core performance (2,809 points) and the Apple M3 Pro in multi-core performance (15,274 points).

Previously, another variant of the Snapdragon X Elite chip with the code X1E80100 was benchmarked on the Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Edge, scoring slightly higher with 2,785 points in single-core performance and 13,925 points in multi-core performance.

Qualcomm executives have claimed that the Snapdragon X Elite outperforms Intel’s Core Ultra 9 185H by up to 51% in performance or up to 65% in energy efficiency for single-core tasks, and up to 41% and 58% respectively for multi-core tasks.

TLDR: Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite chip is poised to enter the PC market in mid-2024, showcasing impressive performance in benchmark tests and challenging competitors like Intel and Apple.
