The international gaming media industry has seen a significant acquisition by IGN Entertainment, which is currently a website under the Ziff Davis conglomerate, a major media capital group in the United States. They announced the purchase of Gamer Network, a British online gaming media company that owns several gaming websites such as Eurogamer, Digital Foundry, GamesIndustry.biz, Rock Paper Shotgun, VG247, and Dicebreaker.
According to reports from Eurogamer, the company itself, Game Network, had been up for sale for some time as its parent company, Reedpop, a company specializing in events (organizers of PAX), decided to divest from this business.
On the buyer’s side, IGN Network, apart from owning the IGN gaming website, also owns other online news websites like Mashable, Lifehacker, PCMag, as well as the game selling platform Humble Bundle.
