Information from Nate the Hate, a reputable industry journalist, revealed on his podcast that Square Enix is collaborating with Mistwalker Studio to bring Hironobu Sakaguchi’s game, Fantasian, to PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S. The game, which draws inspiration from the Final Fantasy series, features a unique J-RPG turn-based gameplay style reminiscent of Final Fantasy 7-9. The characters are polygonal, while the backgrounds are intricately crafted dioramas using special effects expertise from the Godzilla and Ultraman franchises. Additionally, Nobuo Uematsu, the renowned composer of the Final Fantasy series, has contributed to the game’s soundtrack.
Previously, Fantasian was an Apple Arcade exclusive released in April 2021. Sakaguchi had expressed his desire to bring the game to PC, and a listing on Steam Database hinted at a potential PC version. However, an official announcement for the PC version has yet to materialize.
