Speculation: xAI Proposes Revenue-Sharing Agreement with Tesla in Exchange for AI Technology Access – Elon Musk Refutes Rumor

According to sources cited by The Wall Street Journal, xAI, the artificial intelligence company owned by Elon Musk, has been in discussions with Tesla to provide access to AI technology and resources in exchange for a share of Tesla’s revenue. This arrangement may seem like a potential conflict of interest for Musk, reminiscent of the recent news regarding stock manipulation or employee poaching.

Reports indicate that under this agreement, Tesla will integrate xAI’s models into its autonomous driving system, incorporating features such as voice command functionality and participation in the development of the Optimus robot. Despite this, Elon Musk has denied these reports, taking to Twitter to clarify that while Tesla has indeed engaged in technology exchanges with xAI, no financial compensation is required for the use of xAI’s technology. He also mentioned that xAI’s models are too large, encompassing a wealth of human knowledge, making them unsuitable for integration into Tesla’s car computers. The AI models currently employed by Tesla are sufficiently intelligent to process real-time video inputs and generate commands without the need for running intensive computations like the LLM model on H100 GPUs.
