Amazon is the latest company to join the Motion Picture Association (MPA) in the United States, a group of film producers and distributors in America that includes major studios with significant influence in the industry.
The primary members of MPA are 5 renowned studios – Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, Universal Studios, The Walt Disney Studios, Warner Bros. Discovery, with a 6th member being Netflix in 2019. Amazon, being the newest company to join, is not a surprising addition given their acquisition of film studio MGM in 2022, which was a former MPA member from 1928 to 2005.
