Google Enhances Street View Imagery in 80 Countries, Utilizing AI to Remove Image Haze from Satellite Views on Earth and Maps.

Google has announced updates to the images displayed in Street View across nearly 80 countries, such as Australia, Brazil, Denmark, Japan, the Philippines, Rwanda, Serbia, South Africa, and many more (not specified if Thailand is included). Additionally, new countries have been added including Bosnia and Herzegovina, Namibia, Liechtenstein, and Paraguay.

Google stated that the increase in images is a result of switching to smaller and lighter cameras since 2022, allowing for better access to various locations.

Furthermore, Google has announced that the Timelapse feature, which uses satellite imagery to view the past on Google Earth, now supports viewing back up to 80 years. Tools for researchers to access data and explore certain areas have also been improved.

Lastly, Google has utilized the AI model Cloud Score+ to remove clouds, cloud shadows, and fog from satellite images on both Google Earth and Google Maps, resulting in sharper, more detailed and accurate images as the model can distinguish between clouds and ice, snow, shadows on mountains, ensuring no alterations are made.
