OpenAI secures over two hundred billion baht in new funding, company’s total value surpasses five trillion baht

OpenAI has closed its new investment round with a staggering $6.6 billion, or approximately 220,000 million baht. The latest valuation of the company stands at $157 billion or around 5.2 trillion baht.

Previous investors like Microsoft and NVIDIA are continuing to pour in funds, along with venture capital firms like Thrive Capital. However, new entrants such as SoftBank and Fidelity have joined the fray, while Apple, which previously showed interest in investing, seems to have dropped out. This round of investment is in the form of convertible debt securities, which will convert to equity when the company transforms into a profit-seeking entity successfully free from profit restrictions and controlled by a foundation structure.

Sources from Reuters indicate that OpenAI projects revenues of up to $3.6 billion this year, skyrocketing to $11.6 billion in the next year. The aggressive revenue targets have caused internal conflicts within the company, leading to a significant number of high-ranking employees resigning.
