Unconfirmed: Apple TV+ Potentially Expanding Original Content Distribution to Other Platforms to Mitigate Business Losses.

Bloomberg reports that Apple is considering selling some of its original content rights to other platforms to generate additional revenue and offset losses. This move aims to increase the visibility of Apple’s original content.

Apple’s original content will be exclusive to streaming on Apple TV+. Both CEO Tim Cook and Services head Eddy Cue have expressed the need for the Apple TV+ content team to cut costs and create content that has a broader appeal.

Apple TV+ has made various strategic adjustments recently, including the case of the film “Wolfs,” starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt. Originally intended for a wide theatrical release in the US, the film was instead limited to a one-week theatrical run before being available for streaming. This adjustment was made to mitigate potential losses if the film did not perform well. Reports indicate that Apple is also trimming content production budgets to focus solely on streaming.
