Introducing the Innovative RustRover IDE by JetBrains: Revolutionizing Rust Language Development

JetBrains has recently unveiled a brand new IDE for the Rust programming language, aptly named RustRover. The IDE, represented by the acronym RR in its icon, is built upon the foundation of the IntelliJ Platform but tailored specifically for Rust development. It is an enhanced version of the existing Rust plugin for IntelliJ IDEA.

RustRover is currently available for free during its testing phase, with a full release scheduled for September 2024. Afterward, JetBrains will announce their pricing model. The open-source base plugin will remain free, but the JetBrains team will no longer update it to incorporate new features. Instead, their focus will shift towards developing a paid version of RustRover.

Over the past few years, JetBrains has been introducing a series of new IDEs and tools, such as Qoodana (QA), Aqua (text automation), Rider (Unreal), and Data Spell (data science).

TLDR: JetBrains introduces RustRover, a new IDE designed specifically for Rust programming. The IDE is currently free for testing, with a full release planned for September 2024. JetBrains will continue to offer a free open-source plugin for Rust but will not provide further updates, focusing on the development of a paid version of RustRover.
