Sony and Sucker Punch Productions have announced the release date of the game Ghost of Yōtei on PS5 on October 2, 2025. This installment is seen as a spiritual sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, although the storylines are unrelated. Set 300 years later, the events of this game take place in the Yōtei mountain range on the Hokkaido island. The main story follows the samurai woman Atsu, the protagonist of this chapter, who is massacred along with her family by a group of masked animal-like bandits led by Lord Saito. After surviving and seeking refuge among the indigenous Ainu people, she grows up and returns to seek vengeance.
The new trailer for Ghost of Yōtei reveals the backstory of Atsu and the group of masked bandits known as the Yōtei Six, consisting of The Snake, The Oni, The Kitsune, The Spider, The Dragon, and Lord Saito. Atsu must avenge her enemies one by one. Sucker Punch promises a more open-world exploration experience compared to Ghost of Tsushima, allowing players the freedom to pursue the Yōtei Six in any order. The natural beauty of the Hokkaido island (known as Ezo at that time) is portrayed, but it is also filled with dangers. Players can set up campfires anywhere on the map.
