Twitter Announces Closure of Circles Limitation Feature: Impending on October 31st

Twitter, formerly known as X, recently announced that the Circles feature will be deprecated starting from October 31, 2023. After this date, users will no longer be able to post limited-circle tweets or add new members to their circles. However, they will still have the option to remove people by unfollowing them.

Circles, a feature introduced and widely utilized by Twitter since August 2022, allows users to share tweets within small, exclusive groups. It is worth noting that this decision to discontinue Circles was not accompanied by an explanation from X. Nevertheless, one can interpret that this functionality may overlap with Communities, which serve the purpose of creating limited discussion groups on similar topics.

In summary, Twitter’s decision to deprecate the Circles feature, effective October 31, 2023, means users will be unable to post exclusive-circle tweets or add new members to their circles. However, they will still have the ability to remove individuals by unfollowing. This change may be a result of the functionality overlapping with Communities, where users can create topic-specific groups.
