Additional insights from market research company Mercury Research reveal that AMD’s revenue in the past quarter came close to half from the Data Center sector. This growth has led to an increased market share for AMD in the Data Center CPU segment.
In the recent quarter, AMD’s market share for Data Center CPUs saw an uptick to 24.1%, while Intel dropped to 75.9%. Despite the significant gap in numbers, this is a positive trend for AMD compared to previous years when their market share was below 20%. These figures mark the highest market share for AMD in a decade.
Furthermore, in the Mobile market, AMD also saw an increase in market share to 20.3% in terms of units shipped, although revenue sits at 17.7% due to AMD’s sales of lower-priced CPUs compared to Intel.
Meanwhile, in the PC-desktop market, AMD’s market share decreased to 23.0%, possibly indicating a shift in AMD’s strategy towards focusing more on the server market.
