AMD Unveils Instinct MI325X GPU for Data Centers, Introduces Annual Instinct GPU Upgrade Cycle

AMD has unveiled its roadmap for data center GPUs under the Instinct brand, with CEO Dr. Lisa Su stating that new GPU releases will occur annually to meet the demands of both the AI and HPC markets for increased memory and bandwidth.

The new Instinct GPU roadmap begins with the MI325X set to launch in the fourth quarter of this year, followed by the MI350 series, which will feature the updated CDNA4 architecture and is slated for release in 2025, and the MI400 series in 2026.

The specifications of the Instinct MI325X include up to 288GB of HBM3E memory, 6 TB/s bandwidth, and performance for inference and token generation tasks that surpass NVIDIA’s H100 by 1.3 times when running on AMD ROCm 6 software.

AMD claims that the upcoming MI350 GPU set to debut next year will offer AI performance 35 times better than the current MI300 model and will utilize 3-nanometer manufacturing technology.
